Simpler super payments the key to staying compliant
Payday Super is on the horizon. Simple super payments will be the key for employers staying compliant.
From 1 July 2026, proposed Payday Super legislation will require Australian employers to pay superannuation guarantee (SG) contributions at the same time as wages. This shift means employers must process super payments more frequently, accurately, and within seven calendar days of payday to avoid potential penalties under the new superannuation guarantee charge (SGC).
Payroll processes will need to be able to calculate SG contributions based on ‘qualifying earnings’ (QE) faster. For employers, simplifying and automating super payments process can help avoid potential penalties, reduce admin demands and offer broader super payment efficiencies beyond Payday Super.
