Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register for Beam before payday super starts?
Beam is available through our network of connected payroll partners. You can see a list of all our partners on the Marketplace.
Beam is used directly within our partner’s software. To get started, you’ll just need to complete a quick and easy registration to Beam. Every partner’s integration with Beam is unique, but generally you need to navigate to the integrations section on your payroll software and select the “Register with Beam”. Your chosen software provider can provide specific instructions, or you can check out our overview of the 4 steps to complete your registration here.
How can I update details in Beam, such as my refund bank account or email address?
These details are stored and updated within your payroll software, not Beam. As each of our payroll providers has a unique integration with Beam, it’s best to reach out to them directly for help with updating these details.
I’m getting an ESA error when trying to use a SMSF, what does that mean?
The notification received relates to an Electronic Service Address (ESA) error. This could either mean that the ESA listed for the specific self-managed super fund (SMSF) is incorrect, or the subscription to the ESA provider may have lapsed.
If the employer has confirmed the correct ESA provider with their employee, we would recommend the employee speaks to the fund administrator to ensure the ESA subscription is still current.
I want to use a SMSF as my employer default fund, but it’s not working?
It’s an Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirement that the super fund you nominate as your default must be registered by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). It can’t be a self-managed super fund (SMSF). This doesn’t mean you can’t pay superannuation to an SMSF using Beam, it just means you won’t be able to select it as your default fund.
